Short answer: Welded tube is made by roll-forming a strip or coil into a round, square or shaped section and joining the seam — high-frequency (ERW) welding for high volume, laser welding for precise thin walls, TIG for thin and decorative tube. Cheaper than seamless and available in long lengths, welded tube serves structural, mechanical, HVAC, automotive and furniture needs where the seam is acceptable and pressure is moderate.
