Copper-Nickel Alloy Guide: CuNi 90/10 & 70/30 Properties & Uses

Copper-Nickel Alloy Guide: CuNi 90/10 & 70/30 Properties & Uses

Short answer: Copper-nickel (CuNi) alloys — mainly 90/10 (C70600) and 70/30 (C71500) — combine high resistance to seawater corrosion and biofouling with good strength and weldability, making them the standard for shipbuilding, desalination, condensers, heat exchangers and offshore piping. They resist erosion-corrosion far better than steel or aluminium in flowing seawater and are readily welded by TIG, MIG or brazing with matched filler.
