Seamless (SMLS) — pierced billet, no weld seam; best for high-pressure boiler, oil & gas and mechanical tubing.
ERW — electric-resistance welded; cost-effective for line pipe, water, fire suppression and structural use.
LSAW/SSAW — submerged-arc welded large-OD pipe for transmission lines and piling.
Stainless welded — 304/316/321/2205 for food, chemical and marine service.

Is seamless pipe always better than welded pipe?

Not always. Seamless is stronger in high-pressure and cyclic service, but ERW and LSAW are cheaper and fully adequate for most structural, water and low-pressure applications.

What is the difference between A53 and A106?
