Pipe Types & Manufacturing Routes
The right pipe depends on pressure, diameter and wall thickness. Seamless Vs Welded Steel Pipe explains the trade-offs in detail.
- Seamless (SMLS) — pierced billet, no weld seam; best for high-pressure boiler, oil & gas and mechanical tubing.
- ERW — electric-resistance welded; cost-effective for line pipe, water, fire suppression and structural use.
- LSAW/SSAW — submerged-arc welded large-OD pipe for transmission lines and piling.
- Stainless welded — 304/316/321/2205 for food, chemical and marine service.

Pertanyaan yang Sering Diajukan
Not always. Seamless is stronger in high-pressure and cyclic service, but ERW and LSAW are cheaper and fully adequate for most structural, water and low-pressure applications.
A53 is for structural and low-pressure service, made seamless or welded. A106 is seamless-only and intended for high-temperature service such as steam and refinery lines. See Astm A53 Vs A106 Steel Pipe.
Yes. We stock 304, 304L, 316, 316L, 321 and duplex 2205 welded and seamless pipe for sanitary, chemical and marine use.
