Electroless Nickel Guide: EN Plating for Uniform, Hard, Corrosion-Resistant Coatings

Electroless Nickel Guide: EN Plating for Uniform, Hard, Corrosion-Resistant Coatings

Short answer: Electroless nickel (EN) deposits nickel-phosphorus from an autocatalytic bath with no electric current, so the coating is perfectly uniform across complex shapes, blind holes and threads — unlike electroplating, which throws unevenly. Mid-phosphorus EN is hard and wear-resistant; high-phosphorus EN is amorphous and highly corrosion-resistant. EN is widely used on valves, pumps, moulds and electronics for a hard, solderable, corrosion-proof skin.

Preguntas frecuentes

What is electroless nickel?

Autocatalytic Ni-P coating, no current needed.

EN vs electro nickel?

EN is uniform on complex shapes; electro throws unevenly.

Mid vs high phosphorus?

Mid-P hard/wear; high-P best corrosion resistance.

How hard is EN?

Up to ~1000 HV as-plated, more after heat treatment.
