Electropolishing Guide: Bright, Passive & Ultra-Clean Metal Finishing

Electropolishing Guide: Bright, Passive & Ultra-Clean Metal Finishing

Short answer: Electropolishing is the electrochemical reverse of plating: the part is the anode in a phosphoric/sulphuric bath and a controlled microlayer of metal dissolves, levelling peaks, removing burrs and leaving a bright, passive, ultra-clean surface. It is the finish of choice for hygienic stainless in food, pharma and semiconductor service, and for parts that must be passively clean without the directional lines of mechanical polishing.

Perguntas frequentes

What is electropolishing?

Anodic dissolution that brightens and passivates the surface.

Electropolish vs passivation?

EP removes metal and brightens; passivation only reforms the film.

What metals suit it?

Stainless, nickel alloys, aluminium, copper, titanium.

Why for hygiene?

Smooth, passive, particle-shedding surface for pharma/food.

Do you supply EP stock?

HXSCO supplies stainless and nickel alloy ready for EP.
