What Is Bronze Today?

Classic bronze is copper plus tin, but most ‘bronzes’ in service now are copper with aluminum, silicon, or manganese instead of – or in addition to – tin. These additions raise strength and corrosion resistance while keeping the alloy easy to cast and bear against steel.

Common Bronze Types
