Copper Sheet: Grades, Thickness & Industrial Uses

Copper Sheet: Grades, Thickness & Industrial Uses

Short answer: Copper sheet is flat-rolled high-conductivity metal used for electrical, architectural, and craft applications. The most stocked grades are ETP C11000 for general use, oxygen-free C10100/C10200 for welding and electronics, and DHP C12200 for plumbing and heat exchangers. Thicknesses commonly run from 0.2 mm to 6 mm.

What Is Copper Sheet?

Copper sheet is produced by rolling cast billets through hot and cold mills to a flat, precise thickness. Its outstanding electrical and thermal conductivity, corrosion resistance, and workability make it a premium material for roofing, electrical parts, and decorative metalwork. Typical thicknesses run from 0.2 mm to about 6 mm before the material is classed as plate.

Common Copper Sheet Grades

The chart above summarizes the main grades. ETP C11000 (99.9% copper) is the general-purpose default with excellent conductivity. Oxygen-free C10100/C10200 are chosen for welding, brazing, and high-purity electronics where embrittlement must be avoided. DHP C12200 is the plumbing and heat-exchanger grade thanks to its phosphorus deoxidation. Brass sheet (C26000) serves decorative and ammunition uses.

Thickness and Temper

Copper sheet is supplied soft (annealed) or half-hard. Softer tempers form and deep-draw easily; half-hard sheet holds its shape for roofing and cladding. State the thickness, temper, and edge condition (sheared or slit) when you request a quote.

Aplikasi Khas

  • Roofing & cladding: Weather-resistant, long-life architectural skins.
  • Electrical: Switchgear parts, busbar backing, and conductive shims.
  • Heat transfer: Heat-exchanger plates and solar absorbers.
  • Craft & decorative: Jewelry, signage, and art where the natural patina is valued.

Pertanyaan yang Sering Diajukan

What grade of copper sheet should I use?

Use ETP C11000 for general electrical and architectural work, oxygen-free C10100/C10200 for welding and electronics, and DHP C12200 for plumbing and heat exchangers.

What thickness does copper sheet come in?

Common flat-rolled copper runs from about 0.2 mm to 6 mm; thicker material is usually supplied as plate.

Is copper sheet good for roofing?

Yes. Copper roofing lasts decades, resists corrosion, and develops a protective patina, making it a premium architectural choice.

What is the difference between ETP and oxygen-free copper?

ETP (C11000) is tough-pitch copper with tiny residual oxygen; oxygen-free (C10100/C10200) has almost none, which prevents hydrogen-embrittlement when welding or brazing.

Can copper sheet be cut and formed?

Yes. Copper sheet cuts, shears, and forms readily. Annealed sheet deep-draws well, while half-hard sheet keeps its shape for cladding.
