Short answer: Pipeline flanges come in several types matched to service: weld neck for high-pressure and cyclic duty, slip-on for low-cost low-pressure joints, socket weld for small-bore high-pressure lines, blind for closures and lap joint for easy dismantling — chosen by pressure, temperature, bore and how often the joint is broken.

Reading a Flange Spec
Flanges are defined by standard (ASME B16.5 / EN 1092), rating (150# to 2500# or PN), bore and facing. Pressure-temperature and grade data are in our Steel Grade Chart; dimensions per Tolerances Fits Guide. They pair with our Steel Pipe Supplier 그리고 Pipe Fittings Supplier.
Weld Neck vs Slip-On
Weld neck has a long tapered hub butt-welded to the pipe for high stress and thermal cycling; slip-on is cheaper, fillet-welded, and fine for low-pressure, low-cyclic service. Plate quality for flanges comes from our Steel Plate Supplier 그리고 Stainless Plate Supplier.
Small Bore and Specials
Socket weld flanges suit small-bore high-pressure lines with a fillet weld and a gap for thermal growth; blind flanges close or isolate a line; lap joint flanges with a stub end allow frequent take-apart without rotating the flange. Welding is detailed in our Welded Tube Guide.
Choosing a Flange
Specify weld neck for critical high-pressure and cyclic service, slip-on to save cost at low rating, socket weld for small high-pressure bores, and lap joint where the joint is opened often — and confirm rating, facing and the matching grade with the pipe.
